I visited Brno again last week. Not much happened of note, and the police appeared to be under instructions not to wind me up. This was unlike a visit a couple of months ago, when as I sat outside the Starbucks, two policemen paid me a lot of attention as they stood watching a parade marking some anniversary of the Brno fire service. One of them kept theatrically looking at women’s behinds, as well as making a point of turning around and staring at me. His colleague appeared to tell him to stop it. This was on the same road where around a decade ago, the driver of a G4S vehicle tried to murder me by running me down at the incitement or encouragement of the Czech police.
However, at the end of this day trip to Brno, about to catch the train home, I shopped for a few snacks in the Billa in the station. This was the first time I had ever shopped there. As I was served by the cashier, the security guard made a point of craning his head round from his desk so that he could observe. As soon as I had paid, he went back to whatever he was doing, looking at his cctv screen or whatever. The thing is, the cashier appeared to notice, and evidently think this was unusual or concerning, as she seemed to get a little anxious.
The above is the best photo I could get of the security guard (afterwards, outside the store). I wasn’t able to read his badge to identify which security firm he works for.
