I recently flew out of Prague Airport. The security guards and the border police there are the most sadistic I’ve encountered anywhere in Prague. For a number of years I have been gaslighted and harassed by them. I have complained to the Airport’s ‘Compliance Ethics’ line, but was told that the conduct of the police, even allegations of torture, does not fall under their remit, and advised me to make a complaint to the police chief Jan Švejdar himself.
Despite the police in Prague being somewhat more circumspect recently, it seems that the police at the airport are as nasty as ever. On this occasion, as I sat in Costa Coffee, two armed policemen walked past. As they did so, one pulled out his phone and appeared to take a selfie of himself and his colleague while smirking.
As I stood in the queue at border control, the police officers at the two booths to my right, both made a theatrically obvious show of recognizing me while smirking. I proceeded to the booth ahead of me, manned by a blonde middle-aged woman. She looked at my passport photo and then at me, and made a theatrical look of disgust, then aggressively pointed for me to pass through.
