I’ve been spat on at least twice by Roman Bašta security guards in the five years I’ve been visiting the Novy Smichov shopping center. I took a video one time of a security guard standing facing me as I sat outside at the Starbucks, his face contorted in rage, spitting copious amounts of saliva on to the ground. Given that the only times I’ve had any direct communication with Roman Bašta or his security guards, he/they have told me that this is all happening inside of my head, I can’t say why precisely they have spat at me in the past. From their behaviour, comments when passing me, and that of security guards and police across Europe, it would appear they think I should be grateful for them for what they have been doing for the last 15 years. And they get really, really angry that I can’t see that I should be grateful to them. Even though they have time and time told me to my face, including Roman Bašta, that this is all happening inside of my head – a paranoid delusion. I should be really grateful to them for this paranoid delusion inside of my head it seems.
Anyway, I may have been spat on again, this time by the squat Romany ‘senior’ security guard who is often seen in the center. I was coming down one of the escalators, and he was going up. I turned my head to look at him as he passed, and his face contorted into an expression of sheer rage. I immediately looked away, but then I heard a distinct spitting sound. I looked back again at him and he looked even more enraged. I’m not sure what triggered this in him. I noticed there was a young woman only two steps ahead of him on the otherwise empty escalator. Perhaps he wrongly thought I suspected him of perving or something? No, he seems a little different to most of the regular M2C security guards, in that I can’t recall him ever openly leering at the butts of young girls or anything like that.
I wonder how an aggressive thug like him would cope if for 15 years, the police were pointing him out to hundreds of security guards in every place he visited in Europe, encouraging both security guards and shop staff to mock him for ‘not liking to be looked at’, making false accusations against him, and all the while deliberately leaving him unsure whether any of it is real and that he’s not simply batshit insane?
I would bet confidently that such a person would likely end up killing somebody within a couple of weeks.
Yet this peanut brained thug just can’t understand why I get agitated occasionaly after fifteen years of this.
Of course, I don’t know if he did spit on me. It wasn’t clear as the other occasions, when I saw the guard spit at me, and on one case, saw the saliva on my t-shirt. Nor as clear as the video of the guard clearly looking directly at me enraged, then theatrically spitting a years’ worth of saliva on to the ground, and again looking at me with an expression of rage.
